Efektivitas Penggunaan Media Kartu Kata Bergambar Berbasis Budaya Lokal Terhadap Keterampilan Membaca Permulaan Siswa

Abstract

Initial reading skills are one of the basic skills that elementary school students need to have, especially in phase A because they are the foundation in obtaining and understanding information. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of local culture-based picture word card media on the initial reading skills of grade II students of SDN Cluster 5, Praya District. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design  of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of an experimental class that was given treatment using local culture-based picture word card media and a control class with conventional learning without using media. The data collection technique used a performance test of initial reading skills. The data obtained were analyzed by normality test and homogeneity test, as well as follow-up tests in the form of hypothesis tests and N-Gain tests. The hypothesis test using the independent sample t-test showed that the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.001 < 0.05 which means that there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Then it was seen from the results of the N-Gain test of 0.57 in the medium category. Based on this, H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted, which showed that the use of local culture-based picture card media was effective on the initial reading skills of grade II students of SDN Cluster 5, Praya District
